Xiaomi has officially unveiled its new flagship smartphone series, the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro. Both phones are powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, which places them in the top tier of smartphones. The company announced a special edition of the smaller 15 with 20 colour variations to pick from.
The Xiaomi 15 Pro is the more powerful device, with a 6.73-inch 2K OLED curved display and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The screen produces a peak brightness of 3,200 nits. In addition, it has 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.
For heavy use, there is an advanced wing-shaped circular cooling system with a heat dissipation area of 4,053mm2. Xiaomi's HyperCore scheduler claims to improve overall performance. The rear-facing triple-camera system, developed in partnership with Leica, includes a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 50MP periscope telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom. Other features of the 15 Pro include a big 6,100mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless fast charging capabilities.
The Xiaomi 15's design assumes a smaller profile. It has a tiny 6.36-inch flat screen but maintains the same 3,200 nit peak brightness. It also retains a triple camera setup, including a 50MP primary shooter. Additional features include a 5,400mAh battery with 90W wired and 50W wireless rapid charging, satellite connectivity, and IP68 water and dust protection.
The Xiaomi 15 features a glass back and is available in Lilac, Light Grass Green, Black, and White colours. There's also a premium "Bright Silver" and "Diamond Edition" made of beautiful crocodile-grain leather with a genuine 57-facet diamond embedded on one side. Finally, the "Custom Edition," which is available in the 16GB/512GB edition, provides 20 colour options for the back panel.
It's worth mentioning that they run the recently launched Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0. The Xiaomi 15 Pro starts at 5,299 yuan (~€690), although the base model is more affordable at 4,499 yuan (~€580). They will be available on Chinese shelves beginning October 31.
