YouTube is experimenting with multiplayer mini-games as part of its "Playables" library of free and lightweight games. Currently, Ludo Club and Magic Tiles 3 offer multiplayer gameplay.
"We're starting to test a new multiplayer functionality for a few specific games on YouTube Playables. "Multiplayer on Playables allows you to play games in real time with other users," the business stated.
YouTube has been testing mini-games known as "Playables" on its app and website for over a year, and it opened up its free game catalogue to all users in May after previously restricted access to premium customers.
The video streaming service has progressively expanded its range of Playables. There are currently over 130 games available in categories such as Action, Arcade, Brain & Puzzle, Trivia & Word, Racing, Simulation, and Sports.
YouTube is not alone in employing games to drive user engagement. Several companies, including Netflix and LinkedIn, have included games to keep consumers using their services for more than just viewing films or interacting with postings.
