DuckDuckGo has dedicated its existence to the fight for the protection of the privacy of the Internet user and that is why it is preparing to be active in new areas beyond the homonymous alternative search engine.

The company announced that it is preparing a desktop version of its web browser, which will offer unparalleled protection from web trackers so that users can navigate fearlessly without worrying that someone is monitoring them and / or recording their activity. DuckDuckGo's goal is not to get tired of complicated settings, misleading alerts and different levels of protection, but to offer the same coverage to everyone from the start.

With this in mind, it decided to take advantage of the Windows (WebView2) and macOS (WebKit) operating system engines instead of relying on Chromium, which has been chosen by most alternative web browsers (eg Brave, Vivaldi, and even Microsoft in Edge browser). He knows he will not be able to offer the same levels of multifunctionality, but as we mentioned, the protection of privacy is paramount.

If all goes according to plan, DuckDuckGo's new desktop browser will be ready for launch in 2022.
